Hello Darlene – Senior Transitions & Organization is a locally owned business helping older adults and their families navigate the challenges of aging, maintaining independence, and managing everyday life.

Our Senior Support Visits focus on meaningful companionship, practical assistance, and personalized support that helps older adults feel comfortable, connected, and supported.

We are looking for compassionate, experienced Personal Support Workers (PSWs) interested in joining our network of independent subcontractors.

About the Opportunity

This opportunity is ideal for an experienced PSW who enjoys working independently, building lasting relationships with clients, and providing thoughtful, personalized support.

Our clients may live independently at home, in retirement residences, or in other care settings.

Assignments are offered based on client needs, location, and subcontractor availability. We value reliability, professionalism, good communication, and a genuine interest in supporting older adults in one on one situations.

Responsibilities

- Provide friendly companionship, conversation, and meaningful social interaction.
- Assist with meal preparation, grocery shopping, and everyday household routines.
- Support light housekeeping, laundry, and general household organization.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, community activities, and outings.
- Provide reminders and gentle encouragement with daily routines.
- Support older adults experiencing memory changes or cognitive challenges.
- Observe and communicate relevant client concerns or changes in well-being.
- Maintain professional communication and provide appropriate client updates
- Respect client privacy, dignity, independence, and personal preferences.

Please note: This position focuses primarily on non-medical senior support rather than hands-on personal care or nursing services.

Qualifications

Required:





- Personal Support Worker (PSW) certification or equivalent relevant training.
- Experience supporting older adults in home or community settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's licence.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- A professional, dependable, compassionate approach.
- Willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Ability to provide professional references.

Considered an asset:

- Experience supporting individuals living with dementia or cognitive changes.
- Experience providing community-based senior support.
- Existing experience working as an independent PSW or operating a private support service.
- Availability for occasional evenings or weekends.

Independent Contractor Arrangement

This is a subcontractor opportunity, not a traditional salaried or guaranteed-hours position.

- Flexible assignments based on client needs and your availability.
- Typically 5–15 hours per week, with opportunities for additional assignments.
- No guaranteed minimum hours.
- Contractor responsibilities and service expectations will be outlined in a written subcontractor agreement.
- Applicable insurance and other contractor requirements will be discussed during the selection process.
