Prepare personal tax returns (T1). Review tax slips, receipts and prior-year returns for clients with employment, pension, benefit and investment income. Depending on your experience, you may also prepare returns involving self-employment, rental income or capital gains.
Prepare corporate tax returns (T2). Use year-end financial statements, trial balances and prior-year returns to prepare T2 returns and supporting schedules. Reconcile accounting income to taxable income, document tax adjustments and flag outstanding questions for the practice owner.
Follow up with clients. Identify missing information, explain which documents are needed and follow up with individuals and business owners to keep their returns on schedule.
Complete each file for review and filing. Check figures against supporting records, resolve software warnings and submit completed returns to the practice owner for review. Address review comments and confirm that the required authorizations are signed before electronic filing.
Manage deadlines and client records. Track the status of each return, flag delays early and handle personal and business information confidentially.
What you’ll bring
Hands-on experience preparing Canadian T1 and T2 returns using professional tax software. At least one completed filing season in a tax or accounting practice is preferred.
Ability to prepare routine personal returns independently and work from financial statements and trial balances to prepare corporate returns for review.
An organized approach to managing several client files and a professional, approachable manner when discussing tax questions with clients.
Availability to work full time at our Scarborough office from January 1 to April 30, 2027.
Experience preparing self-employment statements (T2125), rental income statements (T776) or capital gains schedules is an asset.
