Full Job Description

The Tarper is responsible for covering and securing loads on flatbeds trailers with plastic and tarps to protect cargo from the elements during transportation. This role requires attention to detail, physical strength, and the ability to work efficiently in various weather conditions. The ideal candidate should have a robust understanding of safety practices and the ability to work independently or as a part of a team.

Job Responsibilities

- Safely cover and secure cargo loads with tarps on flatbed trailers, and other transport vehicles
- Ensure that tarps are properly fitted, fastened, and secured to prevent shifting or damage to the cargo during transit
- Inspect tarps for wear and tear, and report any damages or needs for repairs
- Assist drivers in loading and unloading cargo when necessary
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent injuries and accidents while tarping
- Work in coordination with drivers, warehouse personnel, and other team members to ensure timely and secure loading
- Operate and maintain tarping equipment and tools as required
- Ensure that tarps are neatly folded and stored when not in use
- Adapt to different load sizes and shapes, adjusting the tarping technique as needed




- Communicate any issues or concerns related to tarping with supervisors

Requirements and Skills

- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in a similar role or in the transportation industry is an asset
- Ability to lift heavy tarps and work at heights
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions
- Good communication skills
- Understanding pf safety practices related to tarping and cargo securing
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
