Position Overview
Site Connect's Low Voltage & Security division is growing, and we are adding a senior field leader to take on larger and more complex projects. The Low Voltage Foreman - Security & Datacom leads installation crews on commercial and enterprise work across CCTV, access control, intrusion, intercom, structured cabling, fiber optics, data networks, cloud-managed platforms, and enterprise-level integrated security systems.
The Foreman owns field execution and quality on assigned projects, works day to day with the project managers on those projects, and brings the depth of experience to help set the standard for a team that is growing quickly.
The role is hands-on to start and moves toward field leadership, quality control, and mentoring as the division scales.
Duties & Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Execution
- Own field execution on assigned projects, leading crews across one or more job sites, setting daily priorities, and adjusting manpower to meet schedules and labour allowances.
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and site conditions before work begins, and identify conflicts, missing information, and change order items early.
- Solve technical problems in the field and perform hands-on work when needed, particularly on complex installations and critical project milestones.
- Lead FLHAs, toolbox talks, and site safety discussions, and ensure crews follow site rules, PPE requirements, and company procedures.
- Set clear expectations for workmanship, productivity, and professional conduct, and raise issues early with the project manager.
Quality Control & Standards
- Run quality control on work in progress and completed installations to confirm they match the drawings, specifications, scope, and Site Connect standards.
- Oversee datacom installations, including copper and fiber cabling, telecom rooms, racks, splicing and termination, and testing and certification (e.g.,
Fluke DSX, OTDR).
- Lead commissioning, customer walkthroughs, and close-out, including test reports and as-builts, with deficiencies closed before turnover.
- Help shape the installation standards and field checklists the division grows on, working with project and operations leadership.
Mentoring & Raising the Bar
- Set the quality bar on site for device installation, cabling, terminations, and testing, and lead by example.
- Mentor technicians and apprentices by sharing field experience on complex installations, testing, commissioning, and documentation.
- Help identify technicians who are ready to take on more complex work and responsibility.
Communication & Reporting
- Serve as the main field point of contact for project managers, general contractors, other trades, and customers.
- Report on installation quality, progress, deficiencies, risks, and resource needs to the project manager and operations leadership.
- Ensure crew time entries, daily reports, photos, inspection forms, and test results are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Represent Site Connect professionally through strong workmanship and customer service.
Skills & Qualifications
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in commercial security integration, low voltage, or datacom systems, including 3+ years leading crews as a foreman, lead technician, or similar role.
- Deep expertise in either security integration or datacom, with solid working knowledge of the other.
- Expert ability to read and interpret drawings,
specifications, riser diagrams, scopes, and installation details, and to verify field work against them.
- Experience with enterprise-level integrated security systems; hands-on experience with Genetec, Avigilon, Verkada, Commend, DSC, Ubiquiti, or similar platforms is strongly preferred.
- Datacom experience, including copper and fiber installation, splicing, telecom room build-outs, and testing and certification to TIA standards.
- A high standard for workmanship and quality, with a sharp eye for detail.
- Solid safety leadership, with the ability to set clear expectations for safe work practices.
- Ability to work independently across multiple job sites and make sound field decisions.
- Enjoys mentoring and sharing field experience with a growing team.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., manufacturer certifications, BICSI, CSTS, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform) are an asset.
