The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled client-facing Senior GIS Developer to lead the discovery, architecture, and implementation of enterprise geospatial solutions for our clients.

In this strategic role, you will act as a trusted technical advisor responsible for gathering requirements, designing system architectures, writing custom spatial applications, and ensuring successful project delivery.

Our ideal candidate demonstrates deep expertise in designing, deploying, and maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise architectures, including web GIS configuration and cloud integration. They collaborate with architects, analysts and business stakeholders to design, develop and implement advanced GIS and data solutions. The Senior GIS Developer instills confidence with customers by translating user needs into clear technical designs and tasks.

As a recognized technical leader, you’ll champion industry best practices and play a key role in mentoring and developing team members, sharing knowledge, and strengthening the team’s technical expertise, project delivery capabilities, and client engagement skills. Effective communication, collaboration, and presentation skills are essential to success in this role.

What you’ll get to do as a Senior GIS Developer

· Lead technical workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements, assess existing GIS infrastructures, and define project scopes and roadmaps.

· Design end-to-end enterprise GIS solutions, including high-availability deployments of ArcGIS Enterprise, web mapping interfaces, and data integration patterns.

· Lead and execute data migration and transformation workflows using FME Desktop / FME Server





· Develop custom web and mobile GIS applications using JavaScript (ArcGIS API for JavaScript, React, or similar frameworks).

· Author robust ETL pipelines, custom geoprocessing tools, and automation tasks for clients using ArcPy and the ArcGIS API for Python.

· Optimize data models and performance for spatial and non-spatial databases.

· Drive the adoption of industry best practices within the organization.

· Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate requirements into GIS-enabled solutions.

· Provide mentorship to junior developers and contribute to best practice documentation.

What you’ll need to be successful

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Geomatics, GIS, or related field.

· 8+ years of experience in GIS development using Esri technologies.

· Experience in technical consulting, professional services, or a highly client-facing GIS development role.

· Robust proficiency in Python, ArcPy, and ArcGIS REST APIs.

· Proven experience with FME (Safe Software) for data migration and ETL workflows.

· Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise (10.x–11.x), Portal, and ArcGIS Online.

· Familiarity with web GIS frameworks (JavaScript, React, TypeScript).

· Experience with SQL databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and spatial data management.

· Understanding of version control (Git), CI/CD, and DevOps workflows.

· Experience with cloud environments (Azure or AWS) is an asset.

· Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Experience:

- GIS Development using Esri technologies: 5 years (preferred)
