We are a recognized leader in geotechnical testing and analysis serving clients across a wide range of sectors including infrastructure mining and construction. Our state-of-the-art laboratories are equipped to handle a diverse range of soil and rock testing procedures.
We are currently seeking a Civil Engineer specializing in Geotechnical Engineering to support our laboratory-based geotechnical operations.The successful candidate must hold a Professional Engineer (.) designation. Membership with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) is an asset.
What you will be doing:
- Supervise and validate laboratory geotechnical testing programs including triaxial consolidation direct shear and permeability testing.
- Analyze test results and provide professional engineering interpretations and recommendations.
- Prepare review and approve geotechnical laboratory reports and technical documentation within your qualified scope of practice.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (ASTM CSA etc.) regulatory requirements and internal quality protocols.
- Liaise with project managers and clients to understand testing objectives and reporting requirements.
- Provide technical guidance mentorship and support to junior engineering staff and laboratory technicians.
- Maintain active APEGA registration and ensure all engineering activities comply with APEGAs professional and ethical standards.
What you bring to the table:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Mandatory: Professional Engineer (.) designation
- Membership with APEGA in good standing is strongly preferred.
- 25 years of relevant experience in geotechnical laboratory testing and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics geotechnical testing methods and applicable engineering standards.
- Excellent technical analysis interpretation and reporting skills.
- Familiarity with geotechnical laboratory software and quality control systems.
- Strong organizational skills attention to detail and the ability to exercise independent professional judgment.
