Island Health has an opening for a full time Obstetrician/Gynecologist in the community of Port Alberni.

West Coast General Hospital is a contemporary hospital (built in ) with 52 acute care beds (3 ICU).

Clinical services include 24-hour emergency room, ambulatory care, acute medical/surgical and psychiatry services, cardio pulmonary, diabetes education, laboratory, medical imaging (CT scanner), nutrition counseling, pharmacy and physiotherapy services.

Clinical specialists include anesthesiology, general surgery, urology, obstetrics/gynecology, internal medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics and radiology complete with PACs imaging system.

This position will provide full scope OBGYN services, with OR access (including hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and open cases), and Tier 3 obstetrics (>36 weeks), consultative care supporting MWs and FP-OB for approximately deliveries a year.

This will be the second OBGYN position in the community,



and you will join a collegial medical staff of Family Practitioners, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, General & Subspecialty Internists, Pediatrics, and Radiology.

Benefits: May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including: Recruitment Incentive: up to a maximum of $10, (pro-rated based on FTE) Relocation Costs Reimbursement: up to $15, (amount based on location relocating from) Fee Premium - 7.98% Annual Flat Fee - $12,.72 Rural CME starting at $3,/annum in year 3&4 in community, increasing to a maximum of $6,/annum after 4 years.
