Guide freight train movements as a Train Conductor, coordinating rail cars and locomotives through yards and on-route. Work outdoors across changing conditions.
As a member of a 2 or 3-person train crew, you will provide and receive instructions about rail car movement and placement. The work includes ground duties outside the locomotive cab, signal communication, track switch operation, train inspection, and emergency decision-making. Successful completion of CN's paid training program is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities: Coordinate train assembly and rail car placement
Provide and receive oral and printed instructions
Relay signals for secure locomotive movement
Communicate with Rail Traffic Control by radio
Make decisions during emergencies or unfamiliar situations
Requirements: High School Diploma or General Educational Development
Freight Conductor experience or technical education
Proficiency in oral and written communications
Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry 90 pounds
Apply freight movement, radio communication, and safety knowledge while developing conductor skills through structured field training.
