Build power distribution expertise with Toronto Hydro as a Powerline Technician Apprentice across Toronto work centres and departments. Work with overhead and underground systems.
This apprentice position supports construction, maintenance, operation, and troubleshooting of electrical distribution systems. You will work under a Certified Power Line Person’s direction while developing applicable skills and knowledge. Responsibilities include cables, conductors, transformers, system protection, control equipment, and switching operations.
Key Responsibilities: Construct and maintain overhead and underground distribution systems
Install low and medium voltage cables and conductors
Install, maintain, and remove transformers up to 27.6kV
Troubleshoot system protection, control,



and instrumentation equipment
Follow job plans, procedures, and secure work practices
Requirements: Electrical or electronic diploma, certificate, or relevant certification
Valid Ontario driver’s licence; DZ preferred
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
Ability to work physically in all weather conditions
Knowledge of applicable electrical safety regulations and codes
Apply your electrical knowledge, safety practices, and troubleshooting ability to Toronto Hydro’s overhead and underground distribution work.
