Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role based in Saint John, NB. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment and rental machinery to ensure safe and reliable operation. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled preventative maintenance, conducting mechanical and hydraulic repairs,



and troubleshooting equipment issues in a timely manner.

The Heavy Equipment

Mechanic will complete work orders and service reports accurately, communicate equipment status and repair needs to the branch team, and support safe work practices in the shop and yard. The role may also involve assisting with equipment setup for customers, performing road service calls when required, and collaborating with parts and service staff to source components and improve turnaround times.

Qualifications

- Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and preventative service practices.
- Experience in Equipment Repair, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience working with Heavy Equipment such as compact construction machinery and rental fleet units.
- Background in Vehicle Maintenance for engines, drivetrains, and related systems.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues efficiently.
- Relevant technical diploma, apprenticeship, or certification in heavy equipment or automotive mechanics (e.g., Red Seal or equivalent) is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic reports.
- Commitment to safety standards, with knowledge of safe shop practices and use of PPE.
- Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple work orders.
- Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, standing, and working in varied weather conditions.
