Analyze mortgage applications and make credit decisions as a full-time Mortgage Underwriter with Excalibur in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Reporting to the Manager, Residential Underwriting, you will underwrite alternative lending applications through First National’s Excalibur department. The work requires mortgage underwriting experience, careful documentation review, and proficiency with underwriting systems. You will assess borrowers, properties, employment profiles, and credit strength while supporting broker relationships.
Key Responsibilities: Analyze credit, employment, property, and borrower information
Render approval or decline decisions under internal policies
Negotiate loan terms with brokers and clients
Prioritize Workflow queue deals to minimize turnaround time




Produce commitments using the Merlin underwriting system
Requirements: Two years of mortgage underwriting experience required
Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience preferred
Mortgage Agent Course completion and BCFSA or RECA License an asset
Accuracy, organization, and solid communication skills
MS Office competency and ability to learn systems
Apply mortgage underwriting expertise, credit analysis, and documentation accuracy to Excalibur applications supporting First National’s broker channel.
