Build backend services for Lyft’s Machine Learning Platform in a hybrid Toronto schedule, using Python, Go, or Java. Work with Linux and production ML systems.
As a Backend Software Engineer, you will support real-time, online, and offline model execution, development, and iteration across Lyft. You will own defined tasks, contribute features, and learn from senior engineers while shipping production code. The work spans reliable software, operational stability, and collaboration with Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists.
Key Responsibilities: Develop reliable, performant, readable, maintainable, well-tested backend code
Contribute features to Lyft’s Machine Learning Platform
Monitor deployed code stability and performance, fixing scoped issues
Participate in code reviews, on-call rotations,



and postmortems
Write documentation and collaborate with cross-functional platform users
Requirements: One or more years of backend engineering experience, including internships
Experience with Python, Go, Java, or another backend stack
Experience working with Linux
Degree in computer engineering, computer science, or related experience
Hybrid Toronto availability at least three office days weekly
Apply backend engineering, Linux, and software development skills to Lyft’s machine learning platform serving systems across the business.
