Refrigeration Technician (313A) – G1 Gas License Required

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm, with overtime available
On-call: [Rotating on-call, about 1 week at a time, roughly 4 weeks per year]

About the role
Vanguard Mechanical is growing its refrigeration service team. We’re looking for a skilled Refrigeration Technician to service, maintain, troubleshoot and repair [industrial and commercial] refrigeration systems. You’ll be the person customers count on to diagnose problems and fix them right the first time. The role needs strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a valid 313A license and a G1 Gas Technician license, because many of the sites we service have gas-fired equipment.

What you’ll do

- Service, maintain, troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems
- Work on gas-fired equipment such as boilers, unit heaters and other heating systems
- Diagnose electrical and control issues, including motors, sensors and PLC-based controls
- Carry out preventive maintenance inspections and keep accurate service records
- Respond to emergency calls and take part in the on-call rotation
- Work safely and in line with TSSA, CSA B52 and company safety policies
- Keep customers and our internal project teams informed
- Help with system commissioning and upgrades as needed

What you bring





- 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic licence (required)
- G1 Gas Technician licence from TSSA (required)
- Industrial refrigeration experience (preferred)
- Ammonia refrigeration experience (preferred)
- Strong mechanical, electrical and troubleshooting skills
- Able to read technical drawings and control schematics
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and a clean driving record (required)
- Comfortable working on your own or as part of a team
- A reliable commitment to safety and compliance

Physical requirements

- Working in mechanical rooms and industrial settings
- Working at heights and in confined spaces when needed
- Lifting tools and equipment
