If so, this may be the chance for you As a registered Dental Assistant within the Rural Oral Public Health team, supporting Slave Lake and surrounding areas, you will implement the provincial Oral Health Model of Care by addressing risk factors for oral health. Your responsibilities will include oral health assessments, fluoride varnish and sealant application to students in targeted schools; fluoride varnish applications to preschool aged children; and oral health education for parents and health professionals. You will work collaboratively with other Public Health staff, community dentists, community agencies, and schools, integrating the principles of health promotion, community development and capacity building. This position requires moving heavy equipment and navigating awkward positions. You will be required to pack, lift, move, and transport heavy and/or awkward supplies to various work sites. Description: As a Dental Assistant, you will receive and prepare patients for treatment. You will prepare instruments and materials required, perform intra-oral procedures and chair-side assistance during dental procedures. You will maintain cleanliness of the dental area and perform routine maintenance. You will also provide oral health treatment and education to patients. You may perform billing and pre-authorization of insurance claims and participate in the development of educational resource materials. You will maintain dental charts, records and databases. Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a motor vehicle in good repair that can move equipment to provide services in the community is necessary, as work-related travel is required.
