Join Shift Collab — Bring Accessible Therapy to Clients Across Canada

At Shift Collab, we're a women-led, award-winning collective of over 125 Registered Social Workers and Registered Psychotherapists reshaping virtual mental health care across Canada. For the past 8 years, we've partnered with Maple, Canada's premier virtual care platform, to offer true on-demand and scheduled therapy delivered from the comfort of home.

We are expanding our network with bilingual therapists who can provide psychotherapy in both English and French. This is an independent contractor role requiring flexible, week-to-week availability. On-demand support means being available for clients needing care in the moment, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. EST, seven days a week — on-demand availability is a meaningful part of this role.

Our Hiring Philosophy

Our organization is deeply committed to equity and diversity. We wholeheartedly welcome applications from women, members of racialized groups, visible minorities, Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation, and persons of any gender identity or gender expression. We are also committed to ensuring that each individual will have genuine, open, and unhindered access to opportunities within our company. Accommodations are available for applicants with disabilities. If you require accommodations for interviews or other meetings, please let us know.

What This Role Actually Looks Like

Through the Maple platform, you'll deliver two types of sessions each week, for a total of 6 hours of availability:

- On-Demand Sessions: Pick up sessions between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. EST, seven days a week, for up to 6 hours per week based on demand.

Clients connect with you when they need support and you show up ready.
- Scheduled Sessions: Allocate 6 hours per week in the Maple calendar so clients can book directly through the app at a day and time that works for them.

You'll support clients across a range of presenting concerns, including mood disorders, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, work or school stress, and life transitions.

What We Offer

We know your time is best spent with clients, not on administrative overhead. That's why we take care of the things that slow most independent practitioners down:

- Flexible, week-to-week scheduling that works around your existing practice
- A competitive per-session rate, shared during the interview process
- Access to a steady stream of clients through the Maple platform
- A supportive, women-led collective that values your clinical voice
- Platform orientation and setup support so you can hit the ground running
- Billing, admin, and back-office support handled for you
- A long-term partnership with a team that takes quality care seriously
- An accessible point of contact on our Clinical and People & Operations team throughout your time with us

Who Thrives Here

You're a strong fit if you:

- Build rapport quickly, earn client trust, and support retention from the first session forward

- Show up consistently for on-demand sessions alongside your scheduled hours
- See quality care as the standard, not the ceiling
- Bring solid clinical judgment and expertise to every session
- Are comfortable working with clients across the lifespan, aged 14 and up
- Want a long-term partnership built on trust, clinical autonomy, and meaningful work
- Are looking to supplement your existing income with flexible, client-focused work
- Are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in your practice

What You Bring

- Bilingual and able to offer psychotherapy in both English and French with clinical fluency, meaning you can assess, build rapport, and deliver therapy confidently in either language (required)
- Registered as an MSW RSW or RP in Ontario and/or Quebec, with the ability to see clients in other provinces and territories, or willingness to register in additional provinces
- Master 's-level degree in Social Work or Psychotherapy
- 2+ years of post-licensure experience providing individual therapy to adults
- Minimum 6 hours of availability per week on a consistent schedule
- Individual professional liability insurance
- Proficiency with virtual therapy platforms and secure telehealth tools
- Reliable internet and a private, secure workspace
- Ability to practice independently and problem-solve without supervision
- Adherence to program requirements and Shift Collab guidelines
- Professional references and a Vulnerable Sector Check (required for all successful candidates)
