Description

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced female caregiver to provide personal care support for a Portuguese-speaking senior woman with stage four stomach cancer who is moving into her family's home in northwest Oakville.

About the Client:The client is mobile and uses a walker. She speaks fluent English and has previous experience receiving care, having supported family members with CCAC services for twenty years. She is currently dealing with the emotional adjustment of losing independence but is hopeful about starting chemotherapy. She has fluid retention in her legs that is improving, though her skin is peeling and requires topical antibiotic ointment application. She wears adult diapers and may need assistance with incontinence care. She takes laxatives and typically has bowel movements after breakfast.

Responsibilities:

- Assist with personal hygiene and freshening up
- Help with bathing and showering (family will assist with stairs to basement shower)
- Provide incontinence care and diaper changes as needed
- Apply antibiotic ointment to legs (gloves provided)
- Assist with grooming including hair brushing
- Provide companionship and emotional support
- Submit daily care reports
- Light assistance with mobility using walker

What We're Looking For:

- Female caregiver (client preference for personal care)
- Experience with cancer care and end-of-life support
- Comfortable with incontinence care and personal hygiene assistance
- Patient and encouraging approach to maintain client dignity
- Ability to work in a home with pets (two dogs and two cats, will be blocked off)
- Reliable and compassionate professional

Schedule:Morning visits before noon preferred, ideally daily. Family is home full-time and will assist with heavy lifting and stair navigation. The main floor bedroom has wide doorways, no stairs, and access to a powder room and kitchen.



Care is expected to begin next week with a three-month commitment.

Female caregiver required for client dignity and comfort. Client has stage 4 stomach cancer and is currently mobile but uses a walker. She wears adult diapers and may need assistance with incontinence care. Client has experience receiving care from previous family caregiving situations. Legs are peeling due to previous fluid retention and require application of antibiotic ointment with gloves provided. Client takes laxatives and typically has bowel movements after breakfast. No medication administration, IV, or oxygen required. Shower assistance needed - client will be helped up and down 12-13 basement stairs by family member, caregiver assists with actual bathing in large accessible shower with bench and handheld sprayer. Family members (husband and daughter-in-law) are home full time and very involved in care. Client is adjusting to loss of independence and may be resistant initially but family hopes she becomes more engaged. Client is set up in main floor converted office bedroom with wide doorways, powder room access, twin bed, commode, and walker. No hospital bed currently needed as client is mobile. Morning visits preferred, ideally before noon, to assist after breakfast routine.
