Build Toronto Hydro distribution systems as a Powerline Technician Apprentice, applying electrical skills across overhead and underground equipment in Toronto.

This apprentice works under a Certified Power Line Person’s direction while developing applicable skills and knowledge. Responsibilities include construction, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, cable splicing, and equipment installation across Toronto Hydro’s distribution system. Work involves low, medium, secondary, and primary voltage equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Install and maintain low and medium voltage cables
- Troubleshoot overhead and underground distribution systems
- Install, maintain, and remove transformers up to 27.6kV




- Perform switching operations on primary and secondary equipment
- Follow safety, regulatory, and employer procedures

Requirements:

- Electrical or electronic college diploma preferred
- Relevant practical experience or 309A certification may qualify
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence in positive standing
- Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Develop overhead and underground electrical distribution expertise through powerline construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and safe field operations.
