Compensation: Estimated base salary of $150,000-$192,000, plus equity.

About the opportunity

Superhuman is hiring a back-end engineer for its Mail team. The team builds systems for calendar, scheduling, and AI-driven workflows, including real-time infrastructure, calendar syncing, notification systems, and APIs used across desktop, web, and mobile. The role uses Go, Postgres, Kubernetes, and AWS.

Responsibilities

- Build and operate production services for AI agent orchestration, connector integrations, and real-time data pipelines.
- Design platform services including task schedulers, session and conversation history, client-server protocols, and APIs.
- Build and evolve highly available infrastructure as code.
- Collaborate with ML/AI, Product, and Front-End engineers to deliver AI-powered features.




- Contribute to engineering practices for documentation, testing, and reliability.

Qualifications

- At least five years of back-end development experience, with strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design.
- Experience building, deploying, and debugging production systems at scale.
- Experience with AWS or another cloud platform.
- Familiarity with AI-powered systems; experience building back-end services for AI products is an asset.
- Fluency with AI coding tools and a perspective on their use in software development.
- Experience with real-time systems, event-driven architectures, or high-throughput API design is an asset.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
