Export Development Canada is hiring a Lead Counsel for its approximately 30-lawyer Legal Services group. This permanent position supports origination and back-office activities across corporate lending, including project finance. The successful lawyer will also advise other legal and business areas as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Handle transaction development, structuring, negotiation, and documentationManage waivers, consents, and amendments for financing productsProvide advice on EDC rights, obligations, and internal policiesInterpret the Export Development Act and related statutesCollaborate proactively with legal and business teamsRequirements:
Law degree and Canadian bar licensureSeven or ten years of relevant legal experienceWorking knowledge of legal services principles and practicesStrong creative and critical thinking skillsStrong influencing, negotiation, and relationship management skillsUse advanced legal analysis, commercial judgment, and negotiation skills to support EDC’s lending and investment activities.
