We are looking to add an apprentice to our team at Green's Market. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, and excited to learn. Some background in food would be a strong asset but not necessarily required. This is a physically demanding and fast paced job. We do whole animal butchery, make in house value added products including pates, sausages, bacon and more.
There are very few butcher shops in this city running true whole animal programs. If you are interested in learning a hard to find skill, this is the job for you.
Duties
- Perform meat cutting and trimming according to specific customer requests
- Package and label meat products for display and storage
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and guidelines
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with meat selection and preparation tips
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to fulfill orders and maintain inventory levels
Qualifications:
- An asset: experience as a Butcher or Chef
- Some level of comfort and experience with using knives in more than a home setting
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills with a passion for delivering high-quality products
- Certification in food handling
