Maxximat Inc. is a family-owned rig mat manufacturing company based in Nisku, Alberta with over 20 years of industry experience. We are currently seeking motivated 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Year Welding Apprentices to join our shop team.
Position Overview
As an Apprentice Welder, you will work alongside experienced welders to fabricate and assemble heavy-duty steel frames for rig mats.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform flat and horizontal MIG welding on heavy structural steel assemblies.
- Fit, tackle, and weld components according to specifications and safety guidelines.
- Inspect welds for alignment, quality, and defects.
- Assist with shop clean-up, material handling, and tool maintenance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Apprenticeship Level: Registered 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Year Apprentice Welder (or eligible to register).
- Welding Skills:
Demonstrated proficiency in flat and horizontal MIG welding. Must be able to pass a simple weld test before hire.
- Physical Capability: Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs regularly. The position is physically intensive and requires standing, bending, and heavy handling throughout the shift.
- Work Ethic: Strong attendance record, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
- Safety Mindset: Commitment to working safely and adhering to shop health and safety rules.
