Role Description: We are looking for an experienced Electrical Manager to join GagaMuller on a hyperscale data centre project. Acting as the owner’s representative, you will provide client-side leadership and oversight of the electrical scope, coordinating the General Contractor (GC), design consultants, specialist contractors, OEMs, commissioning teams and the wider supply chain. You will protect the client’s interests across design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and handover, with a strong focus on safety, quality, program, resilience, compliance and operational readiness.
With a market-leading client base and the opportunity to take the lead on strategic commissions and high-profile projects, this is an exciting time to join the business unit and grow a career with GagaMuller.
The Opportunity You will lead client-side oversight of the complete electrical workstream for a hyperscale data centre. The scope includes HV/LV distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, batteries, busway, earthing, lighting, small power, protection, metering and associated EPMS/BMS interfaces. You will coordinate design development, long-lead procurement, installation, energization, testing, integrated systems testing and handover,
ensuring the GC and supply chain deliver safe, resilient, maintainable and compliant systems in line with the client’s requirements.
Responsibilities 1. Scope & Delivery Management
Lead owner-side oversight of the complete electrical scope from design development through procurement, construction, energization, commissioning and handover.
Review the basis of design, calculations, specifications, equipment schedules, technical submittals, shop drawings, method statements and vendor data against client requirements.
Monitor long-lead equipment, factory testing, logistics, installation, testing and commissioning milestones; challenge variance and drive credible recovery actions.
Oversee HV/LV distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, batteries, busway, earthing, lighting, small power, protection and metering systems.
Undertake site assurance reviews to verify installation quality, access, maintainability, configuration, sequencing and readiness for testing and energization.
2. Stakeholder Coordination
Act as the client’s primary discipline representative, providing clear technical advice and recommendations to the project leadership team.
Coordinate the GC, design consultants, trade contractors, OEMs, commissioning agents, operations teams and wider supply chain.
Lead or contribute to client, design,
construction, vendor and commissioning meetings, ensuring decisions and actions have clear owners and deadlines.
Maintain constructive working relationships while independently challenging delivery partners and holding them accountable for agreed outcomes.
Escalate material safety, technical, commercial, program or quality issues early, with a explicit assessment of impact and recommended action.
3. Risk & Compliance Management
Maintain oversight of discipline risks, RFIs, design changes, non-conformances, defects, constraints and technical decisions through to verified close-out.
Confirm that works comply with the client brief, approved design, project specifications, applicable codes, standards and statutory requirements.
Review method statements, inspection and test plans, quality records and commissioning documentation for completeness and suitability.
Identify interface, constructability, maintainability and operational risks early and drive proportionate mitigation with the GC and supply chain.
Promote a strong safety and quality culture, intervening and escalating where delivery does not meet required standards.
4. Reporting & Documentation
Provide accurate, concise progress reporting covering design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, risk, quality and key decisions.
Maintain clear action, decision, risk, change, RFI, defect and interface records, ensuring owners and due dates are visible and actively managed.
Review GC and supply chain reports, challenge unsupported assumptions and verify that forecast dates and recovery actions are credible.
