About NDS
NDS Integration designs, installs and supports AV, IT, surveillance and low-voltage systems for commercial spaces of every kind – from restaurants and hotels to offices, retail and multi-site brands. We're based in Surrey, BC, and work on projects across North America.
Our clients range from single sites to national brands that need every location to work the same way, every time. When projects get difficult, they call us – and we find a way to get them across the finish line.
- Loyalty – win together, lose together
- Customer focus – clients at the centre of everything we do
- Accountability – own it, deliver it
- Transparency – clear, open, no surprises
- Better Every Day – raise the bar, keep improving
The role We're hiring an AV Technician I – an entry-level role on our field team. You'll install, terminate, test and help commission AV, video surveillance, network and low-voltage systems on commercial projects across the Lower Mainland.
This is where a career in our industry starts. You'll work alongside senior technicians and project managers, learn our standards on real job sites, and take on more as you prove yourself. Good work done right the first time is what keeps our clients coming back – and that's what you'll help deliver.
You'll report to our General Manager and work out of our Surrey shop, with job sites across the Lower Mainland.
What you'll do
- Pull, label and terminate structured cabling – Cat6, fibre, speaker, control and AV cable
- Mount and install displays, speakers, projectors, cameras, wireless access points and racks
- Build and dress racks to NDS standards – clean, labelled and documented
- Help test,
troubleshoot and commission AV, network and surveillance systems with senior technicians
- Read drawings, rack elevations and device schedules, and flag anything that doesn't match the site
- Help with service calls, preventive maintenance and system upgrades
- Keep job sites secure, clean and organized, and treat every client space with respect
- Take site photos, mark up as-builts and log your time and notes so the project team always knows where things stand
- Receive equipment at our Surrey shop, check it against packing slips, stage it for upcoming jobs and help keep inventory accurate
What you bring
- 0–2 years in AV, low voltage, electrical, IT or a related trade – or a relevant diploma or certificate
- Hands-on comfort with tools, ladders and lifts, and the ability to lift 50 lb
- Basic knowledge of networking and cabling – what a switch, patch panel and IP address are
- Willingness to learn to read drawings and follow a standard
- A valid BC driver's licence and reliable transportation to the Surrey shop
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Clear communication with your team and with clients on site
- You own your work and close the loop – no surprises
Nice to have
- WHMIS, fall protection and lift tickets – or willingness to get them
- AV,
low-voltage or network training (for example a CompTIA Network+ or a low-voltage program)
- Experience terminating and testing copper or fibre
- Exposure to IP cameras, VMS platforms, access control or Wi-Fi
- Exposure to Crestron, Q-SYS or other AV control systems
- Interest in working toward your CTS
- Work on commercial job sites alongside other trades
