Job Summary

Youth Stars Foundation is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Basketball Coach & Youth Mentor to lead weekly after-school basketball sessions for elementary school students in Grades 4–6 at Willingdon Elementary School.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children, teaching basketball fundamentals, and creating a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

- Lead weekly 90-minute basketball and mentorship sessions.
- Teach fundamental basketball skills through drills, exercises, and games.
- Organize warm-ups, skill-building activities, and friendly scrimmages.
- Facilitate short mentorship discussions focused on teamwork, confidence, respect, and leadership.
- Encourage participation, sportsmanship, and positive peer relationships.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.




- Manage participant attendance and supervise student dismissal and pickup procedures.
- Communicate with Youth Stars Foundation regarding program activities and participant needs.

Qualifications

- Experience coaching basketball or leading youth sports activities.
- Experience working with elementary school-aged children.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate youth of different skill levels.
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals and safety practices.
- Reliable, punctual, and available every Friday.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory background check for working with minors.

Assets:

- Previous experience in youth mentorship or community programming.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Bilingualism (English and French).

Schedule & Compensation

- Location: Willingdon Elementary School – Junior Campus, Montréal, QC
- Schedule: Every Friday, 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM
- Start Date: November 20, 2026
- Program Duration: Until the end of March 2027
- Compensation: $40 per 90-minute session
