Actuator characterization and control-loop tuning define this Senior Engineer role at Humanoid. Work on HMND‑01 as hardware moves toward controllable, measurable integration.
You will develop subsystem characterization methods and identify torque, friction, inertia, backlash, stiffness, thermal, and efficiency parameters. The position covers calibration, parameter identification, modeling, mathematical optimization, and closed-loop actuator evaluation. You will partner with controls and firmware teams while supporting hardware maturity.
Key Responsibilities
Characterize actuators, mechanisms, grippers, and integrated robotic assembliesTune encoder sensors and driver control loops for stabilityModel torque, friction, inertia, backlash, stiffness, and thermal behaviorConduct lifecycle, stress, thermal,
and environmental component testingMaintain protocols, reports, documentation, and results databasesRequirements:
Master’s or PhD in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or robotics5+ years with actuator characterization, robotic hardware, controls, or commissioningExperience in calibration, parameter identification, modeling, and optimizationPython, MATLAB, or C++ experience for analysis and model fittingFamiliarity with DAQ systems and LabVIEW, Python, or MATLABUse characterization, calibration, and model-fitting skills to improve actuator behavior across Humanoid’s robotic hardware.
