Position OverviewIcon Global Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CAD Draftsperson with 1–2 years of direct experience preparing technical drawings for insurance claims, property damage assessments, restoration, or reconstruction projects.

The successful candidate will support our Forensic Engineering and Building Consulting teams by producing accurate technical drawings from field sketches, measurements, photographs, existing plans, and technical markups.

Practical working experience with both AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit is required. Experience developing 3D building models is considered an asset but is not mandatory.

This position is primarily focused on 2D drafting production and building documentation rather than independent engineering design or structural calculations.

Key ResponsibilitiesCAD Drafting & Drawing Production

- Prepare accurate 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
- Develop floor plans, elevations, building sections, roof plans, and construction details for residential and commercial properties.
- Convert field sketches, site measurements, photographs, and existing PDF plans into accurate technical drawings.
- Prepare as-built drawings documenting existing building conditions.
- Produce drawings illustrating damage resulting from fire, water, vehicle impacts, structural failures, and other insured losses.
- Revise drawings based on technical markups and direction from engineers, building consultants, and project managers.
- Prepare PDF drawing packages for inclusion in technical reports, repair scopes, and client submissions.

Insurance Claims & Consulting Support

- Support forensic engineers and building consultants with drafting requirements for property loss investigations.
- Prepare drawings identifying damaged building components, affected areas,



and proposed repair or reconstruction work.
- Assist with repair-versus-replacement assessments through accurate documentation of building layouts and conditions.
- Interpret site photographs, sketches, and measurement records to develop drawings.
- Coordinate with project teams to clarify missing dimensions or technical information.
- Complete drafting assignments within established project deadlines.

Quality Control & Document Management

- Maintain consistent drafting standards, including layers, dimensions, annotations, title blocks, and file organization.
- Review drawings for completeness and accuracy before submission.
- Organize drawing files and maintain appropriate revision control.
- Incorporate technical review comments and issue updated drawing packages.
- Manage multiple assignments while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications & ExperienceRequired

- 1–2 years of direct drafting experience within the insurance claims, property restoration, building consulting, or related industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency and practical working experience with both AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit.
- Experience preparing 2D floor plans, elevations, sections, and building layouts from field measurements and sketches.
- Familiarity with residential building construction and common building materials.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, site photographs, and technical markups.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively with technical staff.

Preferred / Assets

- Diploma or certificate in Architectural Technology,



Civil Engineering Technology, CAD Drafting, or a related discipline.
- Experience creating and modifying 3D building models using Revit or other modelling software.
- Experience preparing drawings for fire, water, structural, or other property damage claims.
- Familiarity with Xactimate Sketch, Matterport, DocuSketch, or similar property documentation platforms.
- Experience converting PDF drawings into AutoCAD.
- Experience working with point clouds, laser scanning, or reality capture data.
- Basic understanding of structural building components and construction methods.

Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate has practical drafting experience within the insurance claims or property restoration industry and is comfortable working with both AutoCAD and Revit. They understand the importance of accurate drawings, effective turnaround times, and clear communication with engineering and consulting teams.
