The position oversees Branch Operations, Central Library, Outreach, Readers' Services, Special Collections, and Youth and Family Engagement. Its focus includes service effectiveness, patron experience, community outcomes, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Establish goals for operations, programs, engagement, and service excellence

Translate organizational strategy into priorities and measurable outcomes

Monitor data, service effectiveness, accessibility, and patron engagement





Align departmental budgets, staffing, resources, and strategic priorities

Support Library Board and Foundation Board strategic initiatives

Requirements

At least seven years of senior leadership experience

Knowledge of public libraries and emerging librarianship trends

Solid analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives and organizational change

Ability to work with boards, officials, partners, and stakeholders

Use executive judgment, performance measurement, and strategic alignment to strengthen Kansas City Public Library services and community outcomes.
