Pay: CA $20/hr + tips ($5/hr average)

We have recently expanded and are looking for an experienced barista to join our team for 3-4 regular shifts per week. Some weekend availability is needed and a side interest in vegetables, gardening and cooking is helpful. A “cappuccino and this rutabaga” is a normal order at Jollity (bonus points if you can make a latte art vegetable)!

Originally started as a cooperative, Jollity Community Farm Shop and Cafe has a solid team of artists, musicians, farmers and chefs who care about good coffee, good food and each other and want to share that around!

We are located in Chemainus, right by the ferry launch.

What you'll do

- Prepare espresso drinks, drip coffee, tea, matcha, and specialty beverages.
- Dial in espresso and maintain consistent drink quality.
- Provide warm, attentive customer service.
- Take orders, operate the till, and answer customer questions.
- Keep the coffee station and café clean, stocked, and organized.
- Help with light food prep and general café duties.
- Complete thorough closing cleans of coffee equipment, workstations, and customer areas.

Shift responsibilities

- Opening shifts focus primarily on coffee preparation, equipment setup, and getting the café ready for the day.




- Closing shifts include a thorough cleaning of coffee equipment and customer areas and some food prep

What we're looking for

- Previous barista experience and confidence operating a manual espresso machine.
- Knowledge of espresso preparation and milk steaming
- Comfortable working independently.
- Able to multitask in a busy café environment.
- Takes pride in cleanliness and maintaining high standards.
- Food Safe Level 1 (or willingness to obtain).
- Weekend availability.
- Reliable transportation to Chemainus.
