Corporate commercial counsel work meets practical legal advice and risk assessment in a hybrid role supporting the Commission’s public interest mandate.
Reporting to the General Counsel, this Corporate Counsel supports the General Counsel’s Office with corporate, commercial, governance, and regulatory matters. The position advises executives, management, and employees while helping the Commission make informed decisions. Work includes procurement, contracts, administrative law, and strategic legal support for generative AI.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver explicit, practical legal advice to executives and managementAssess legal, regulatory, governance, and reputational risksDraft, review, and negotiate procurement and commercial agreementsAdvise on public procurement, vendor negotiations,



and contract managementPrepare legal research, analysis, and practical memorandaRequirements:
Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws with undergraduate degreeLaw Society of British Columbia membership or eligibilityAt least five years’ recent corporate/commercial practice experienceExpertise in contracts, legal risk assessment, and strategic adviceStrong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skillsBring corporate law, procurement, risk assessment, and practical advisory expertise to the Commission’s General Counsel’s Office.
