Floater School Bus Driver / Relief Dispatcher

Are you a versatile team player who enjoys variety in your work? Prairie Bus Lines is seeking a Floater School Bus Driver / Relief Dispatcher in Red Deer to support operations as needed. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to step in where needed to keep our services running smoothly.

Floater Drivers work a split shift of 6:30 am to 10:00 am and 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday (subject to change for route coverage). The Dispatcher role will be used as relief, providing backup support for dispatch duties as needed. This role will have a minimum of 20 hours a week as dispatch relief and minimum of 20 hours a week as a floater. Flexible upon needs of business.

Wage: $22.24 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate buses safely and professionally when covering driving shifts
- Assist with dispatch duties, including scheduling, customer communication,



and administrative tasks as required
- Provide excellent customer service to passengers, drivers, and team members
- Follow company policies and safety regulations at all times
- Maintain transparent communication with supervisors and coworkers
- Adapt to changing priorities, covering shifts for vacations, absences, or peak demand periods

Qualifications:

- Valid Class 2S Alberta driver’s license
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Red Deer and surrounding area
- Comfortable driving recent routes under short notice
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
- Comfortable with Microsoft Suite and other computer tasks
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or on-call as required
