This legal counsel position leads FortisBC’s privacy management program and serves within the legal department. You will advise on privacy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data governance. The work also supports contracts for the Information Systems business unit and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Lead FortisBC’s privacy program and regulatory liaison responsibilities

Improve privacy governance frameworks, policies, and operational controls

Review privacy impact and data storage assessments

Oversee access requests and privacy incident response





Draft information systems agreements and manage external counsel

Requirements

Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor degree

Eight years of post-call corporate legal experience

Valuable standing membership with the Law Society of B.C.

Three years of compliance or privacy experience

Cybersecurity, data governance, and records management understanding

Apply legal judgment, privacy expertise, and regulatory knowledge while strengthening FortisBC’s information governance and compliance practices.
