About us

Aesir Contracting is a framing and concrete formwork contractor based in Victoria, owned and run on site by a Red Seal carpenter. We frame multi-family wood-frame buildings and form foundations, walls and curbs for general contractors across the South Island. Recent work includes Campus View near UVic, the Impera building in Langford and the Ladysmith Hotel, and right now we're prefabbing wall panels for a multi-family project in Sidney.

We're growing, and we're hiring the people who'll run the crews.

The role An experienced framer to step in as lead hand or foreman, depending on what you bring. You run a small crew (3 to 6) day to day: layout from the drawings, setting the crew up, keeping quality and pace, and being the one the GC's super talks to when the owner isn't on site. The work is a mix of site framing, prefab wall panels in the yard, and concrete formwork. Formwork experience is a plus, not a must.

What you'll do

- Read architectural and structural drawings and lay out walls, floors and openings
- Run a crew of 3 to 6: assign the work, check it, keep the day moving
- Build to the engineer's shear wall and hardware schedules, true, square and plumb
- Keep daily timesheets and site records and hand off to the GC's super
- Set the standard on safety: hazard assessments, toolbox talks, no shortcuts

What we need

- 5+ years framing, with multi-family wood-frame experience (condos, townhouses, apartments)

- You can lay out from drawings without being walked through it
- You've led a crew, or you're clearly ready to
- Red Seal or apprenticeship in progress an asset; formwork, prefab panel and first aid tickets an asset
- Valid driver's licence and a reliable vehicle. Sites are across the South Island
- Explicit communication in English on site: instructions, drawings, the GC's super
- Your own hand tools, hard hat, high-vis and steel-toes

Pay and hours

- $35 to $45 an hour on payroll, based on experience and whether you come in as lead hand or foreman
- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7am start; the odd Saturday when a pour or a deadline calls for it
- Rate reviewed after your first two weeks, once we've worked together
- Room to grow. We're building a company that competes for big work on the Island, and the foremen we hire now are the ones who'll run it

How to apply Apply through Indeed with a resume, or call or text Jon at (phone hidden). Tell us what you've framed and what crews you've run. That's what we care about.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

Application question(s)

- This is a lead hand / foreman role. Tell us what you've framed (type of buildings, how many years) and the crews you've run or led. Please only apply if you have 5+ years of framing experience.

Work Location: In person
