About Tre Mari Bakery For over 65 years, Tre Mari Bakery has proudly served Toronto's Corso Italia community with traditional Italian baked goods, fresh food, specialty groceries, and exceptional hospitality.

We are looking for a reliable, organized, and customer-focused Front Cashier & Customer Service Associate to join our retail team.

This position goes beyond operating a cash register. Our front cashiers play an important role in coordinating store activities, assisting customers with orders, supporting coworkers, and ensuring the smooth operation of our bakery.

Key Responsibilities

Cash Handling & Point-of-Sale Operations

- Process customer purchases accurately using our Square point-of-sale system.
- Accept cash, debit, credit, gift cards, and other approved payment methods.
- Issue receipts, process refunds, and handle returns and exchanges.
- Redeem loyalty rewards and gift cards.
- Open and close cash registers following company procedures.
- Monitor and report cash or coin shortages to management.
- Ensure product prices and scanned items are accurate.

Customer Service & Order Management

- Greet customers as they enter and leave the bakery.
- Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient customer service.
- Answer questions about bakery products, ingredients, and allergens.
- Assist customers with purchases and product recommendations.
- Take and coordinate cake, pastry, deli, and catering orders.




- Assist with online store and delivery service inquiries.
- Resolve routine customer concerns and escalate issues when necessary.
- Package and prepare customer orders accurately.

Store Operations & Team Coordination

- Help coordinate employee breaks and daily door or workstation assignments.
- Assist management with delegating and organizing daily tasks.
- Ensure assigned opening and closing duties are completed correctly.
- Support hot table and retail counter operations when needed.
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked checkout areas.
- Monitor merchandise availability and report low or missing stock.
- Assist with opening, closing, and maintaining the seasonal patio and indoor seating.
- Report equipment problems, repair needs, or malfunctions to management.

Food Safety & Product Knowledge

- Follow all company food safety and sanitation standards.
- Learn about our bakery products, including ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the retail area.
- Assist with pricing, labelling, and packaging products correctly.

Qualifications
- Previous cashier, retail, hospitality, or customer service experience is preferred.




- Experience using a point-of-sale system is an asset; Square experience is a plus.
- Strong cash-handling and basic mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and remain organized.
- Strong attention to detail when processing payments and customer orders.
- Comfortable taking initiative and assisting with daily store coordination.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Dependable, punctual, professional, and team-oriented.
- Interest in Italian food, bakery products, and hospitality is an asset.
