About Manzil Manzil gives Muslim and ethically-conscious Canadians a way to own a home and build wealth the halal way. Our home financing products are structured to avoid riba (interest) and gharar (excessive uncertainty). They are screened to AAOIFI standards and overseen by an independent Shariah Supervisory Board. We are looking for an underwriting professional who shares our commitment to excellence, integrity and ethical, faith-aligned finance. The Role We are hiring a Senior Underwriter to lead the adjudication of our home financing applications in Canada. You will own file quality from application to funding. You will apply our underwriting policy and guidelines to every file. You will also raise the standard of the whole home financing team through training and review. This is a senior, hands-on role. It blends credit adjudication, documentation quality and policy stewardship. You will be a key steward of our clients' trust and of the integrity of our home financing.

• Issue approvals, conditions and declines with a clear written rationale.
• Escalate exceptions to the Credit Committee with a documented recommendation. File Quality and Policy
• Own file quality. Make sure every file is complete, accurate and audit-ready before it goes to funding.
• Maintain and improve the underwriting policy, checklists and procedures. Keep them current with OSFI Guideline B-20.
• Support internal and external quality assurance reviews. Respond to findings and close remediation items on time.
• Keep client identification and records to FINTRAC anti-money laundering requirements. Funding and Operations

• Coordinate with mortgage agents, client support, solicitors and appraisers to move files to funding on schedule.

• Mentor and train junior underwriters and mortgage agents on policy and documentation standards.
• Deliver regular policy refresher training and keep training records. Shariah Governance
• Apply the Shariah-compliant financing structure correctly in every file.
• Route Shariah questions through the firm's Shariah governance process. Required Qualifications

• Experience holding adjudication authority for residential mortgage files.
• Deep knowledge of Canadian residential mortgage underwriting. This includes income verification for salaried, self-employed and commission earners, down payment verification, credit assessment, debt service ratios, property and appraisal review, and title and insurance requirements.

• Working knowledge of FINTRAC anti-money laundering obligations for mortgage lenders and brokers.
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, accounting or a related field.

• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Alignment with Manzil's mission and respect for the values of our client community. Preferred Qualifications
