Founded in 1970, Steele Hotels is an independent hotel operator based out of Newfoundland and Labrador Canada. With origins in Gander, NL the company has grown to include 8 properties located in St. John's, NL, Corner Brook, NL, and Fredericton, NB.
Steele Hotels is looking for a part-time, seasonal General Cleaner to join our growing team at JAG Hotel in St. John’s, NL The ideal candidate would possess a positive "can-do" attitude, and a high level of professionalism, coupled with a strong work ethic and attention to detail. This often involves working in fast-paced environment conditions at varying times and requires weekday and evening availability.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean and polish floors using a broom, mop, auto scrubbing machine, and appropriate cleaning supplies
- Dust all furniture and high touch surfaces
- Vacuum carpets, area rugs, curtains, and upholstered furniture
- Clean, disinfect, and polish kitchen and bathroom fixtures and appliances
- Monitor soap, paper towel, and tissue levels of bathrooms, replenishing, as needed
- Manage and report any lost and found items
- Remove debris and empty waste bins
- Wash windows, walls, and ceilings
- Clean changing rooms, shower areas, gym areas, and pool areas within the fitness/wellness center
- When required, respond to customer complaints or concerns
- Demonstrate a professional and positive presentation to guests and colleagues, and be well groomed
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:
- Previous experience in cleaning,
maintenance, or a related field
- Familiarity with effective cleaning techniques, as well as safety and sanitation standards
- Comfortable working around a swimming pool, hot tub, and cold plunge area
- Exceptional attention to detail and observational skills
- Strong organizational abilities and effective time management skills
- A customer-focused attitude coupled with a spirit of cooperation and teamwork
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as a team, as well as independently with minimal supervision
