Introduction

RS Recruitment & Training is assisting a well-established company in the INK MANUFACTURING industry to recruit an IN-PLANT INK TECHNICIAN / COLOUR MATCHER, to be based at a key customer site in JOHANNESBURG (MIDRAND/EDENVALE AREA). Remuneration: R16 000 - R18 500 per month (experience dependent).

Our client is a leading South African manufacturer and supplier of specialised inks, coatings and related products for the print and packaging industry. With service centres across South Africa, the company is recognised for its technical expertise, innovative product range and commitment to quality and customer service.

Job Purpose The In-Plant Ink Technician / Colour Matcher will provide specialist technical support to a key customer, ensuring that quality and service expectations are consistently achieved. The successful candidate will be responsible for colour matching, ink management, quality control, stock management, formulation documentation and maintaining high standards of safety and housekeeping.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & Responsibilities – but not limited to:

- Mixing and issuing inks, varnishes, chemicals and other consumables.
- Conducting colour matching and colour scans.
- Ensuring compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Performing drawdowns/proofs for new Pantone colours and jobs.
- Capturing information on the Ink Management System.
- Managing ink returns and stock.




- Maintaining formulation documentation on the Think 2000 system.
- Prioritising daily workflow within the ink kitchen/lab.
- Performing quality control procedures after production completion.
- Maintaining safety and housekeeping standards.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Applicants Should Have/Be the Following:

Minimum Requirements

- At least 5 years' experience in a printing environment.
- Fundamental understanding of different printing applications and ink formulating.
- Proven colour matching proficiency, including colour wheel knowledge and 100-part formulations.
- Successful completion of colour testing, visual speed and accuracy, and alphanumeric assessments.
- Reside in Johannesburg (Midrand/Edenvale area advantageous).

Skills

- Technical aptitude, particularly with UV inks.
- Ability to use a spectrophotometer (advantageous).
- Customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Package & Remuneration
