We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Journeyperson Automotive Service Technician to join our team in Edmonton. The ideal candidate will bring strong diagnostic abilities, mechanical expertise, and a solid work ethic to perform advanced inspection, diagnosis, and repair of passenger vehicles and light-duty trucks. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced shop environment focused on quality workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.
The successful candidate will also support shop operations by mentoring apprentices and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
Responsibilities
- Perform vehicle inspections, diagnostics, and repairs according to manufacturer specifications and shop standards.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using scan tools, service information systems, and testing equipment.
- Repair and maintain engines, drivetrains, braking systems, steering, suspension, HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Follow established diagnostic procedures and document findings accurately.
- Operate shop equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
- Communicate clearly with service advisors and team members regarding repair recommendations and timelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Mentor and support apprentices and junior technicians.
- Complete repair orders and documentation thoroughly and accurately.
Requirements
- Valid Automotive Service Technician Journeyperson certification (or Red Seal).
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing cars and light-duty trucks.
- Strong understanding of automotive systems, tools, and diagnostic procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical bulletins.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and working in tight spaces. Rate of pay depends on experience and education
Job Type: Full-time Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
