Live-In Caregiver – Full-Time

We are a private family seeking a dependable, compassionate and experienced live-in caregiver to care for our elderly mother in her home on Vancouver's West Side.

Our mother is in her 90s and has dementia and mobility challenges. She uses a walker inside the home and a wheelchair for outings. She enjoys a quiet, relaxed environment, watching television and having friendly conversation. We are looking for someone who is patient, attentive, gentle and comfortable providing both companionship and personal care.

Responsibilities

- Provide companionship, supervision and attentive daily care.
- Assist with personal care, including toileting, incontinence care, dressing and grooming.
- Support safe mobility and assist with transfers when needed.
- Prepare breakfast, lunch and simple meals.
- Assist with medication according to the established care routine and instructions.
- Monitor and record daily vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure and weight, as required.
- Assist with oral hygiene and other daily routines.
- Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable living environment.
- Observe and report any changes in health, behaviour or mobility.
- Provide overnight support. The caregiver sleeps in her own bedroom and is expected to get up when our mother needs assistance during the night.

Accommodation

This is a live-in position with accommodation provided in the family home. The caregiver will have a private living space and will be responsible for providing both daytime care and overnight assistance.

Qualifications

- Previous experience caring for seniors is required.
- Experience supporting individuals with dementia is strongly preferred.




- Comfortable providing personal care, including toileting and incontinence care.
- Experience assisting seniors with mobility and transfers.
- Patient, kind, reliable, responsible and attentive.
- Able to work independently and follow established care routines.
- Good English communication skills; Spanish is an asset.
- Health Care Assistant (HCA) training or certification is an asset.
- References are required.

Reliability, punctuality and consistency are essential. We are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in a long-term position and understands the importance of dependable care for an elderly person who relies on daily assistance.

- Are you available and willing to commit to a consistent weekly Firday shift from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on an ongoing basis?
- Are you comfortable working independently in a private home without direct supervision for most of your shift?
