Main Duties

1. Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
2. Install, align, dismantle and move stationary machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g. pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors) according to layout plans.
3. Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes and jacks to position machinery and parts.
4. Inspect machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
5. Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and programmable logic controls.
6. Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
7. Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to make parts needed for maintenance or set-up.
8. Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance on machinery.
9. Build, or direct others to build, foundations for machinery.
10. Assemble machinery before installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.

Education and Qualifications:

· Completion of secondary school plus training courses or a vocational program is usually required.

Trade training:

A 3–4 year apprenticeship,



or over 5 years of work experience plus industry courses in machinery repair or millwrighting, is usually needed to qualify for trade certification.

Certification (Preferred):

Industrial mechanic (millwright) certification (Skilled Trades Ontario).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $37.50-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 per week
