About the Position

Supples Landing Retirement Residence is seeking a reliable, hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the upkeep, safety, and operation of our building, equipment, and grounds.

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will carry out repairs, organize preventive maintenance, coordinate contractors, and respond to maintenance concerns. Your work will help provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming home for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform general building and equipment maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, drywall repairs, and painting.
- Schedule preventive maintenance, inspect building systems, and address safety hazards.
- Coordinate contractors, obtain quotes, and arrange specialized repairs and inspections.
- Coordinate fire drills, safety training, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Maintain grounds and outdoor areas, including seasonal cleanup and snow removal where required.
- Maintain maintenance records, track repair costs, and monitor tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Guide maintenance staff as required and coordinate work with other departments to minimize disruption to residents.
- Respond to maintenance emergencies, including on-call duties.

Qualifications

- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.




- Relevant building maintenance and repair experience; a trade or contracting background is preferred.
- Strong practical knowledge of plumbing, electrical maintenance, carpentry, drywall, painting, and heating and cooling systems.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, fire safety, and building maintenance standards.
- Ability to recognize hazards, organize work safely, and guide others in secure work practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and collaborate with staff and contractors.
- A respectful, patient approach to working around seniors and a commitment to residents’ privacy, dignity, and comfort.

Working Conditions This is an active position involving indoor and outdoor work throughout the year. Duties include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing, and moving equipment and furniture. Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lb may be required, with appropriate assistance or accommodation as needed.
