Job Overview:

The Operation Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Moonfleet Hay Farm, ensuring production targets are met, equipment is maintained and products are loaded and shipped correctly. This role involves supervising employees, managing re-baling operations, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Supervise and manage the daily activities of employees
- Oversee daily hay operations, including re-baling, storage, and loading
- Operate and supervise the use of re-baling equipment
- Ensure trucks are loaded with the correct products and quantities
- Maintain quality control standards to ensure products meet customer requirements
- Coordinate and oversee off-site loading as required
- Assist with after-hours loading as required
- Ensure farm equipment is maintained and in proper working condition, including coordinating maintenance and repairs as needed
- Organize daily work schedules and assign tasks to employees
- Assist with hay harvesting operations during the summer months
- Maintain accurate records of production, inventory and shipments
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and company policies.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Previous experience in farming, hay production, or agricultural operations would be an asset.
- Previous supervisory or management experience would be an asset.
- Experience operating farm machinery and equipment.
- Understanding of hay production, storage, and quality control would be an asset.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.




- Ability to supervise employees and manage daily work activities.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot farm equipment.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Basic computer and record-keeping skills.
- Must have reliable transportation.

Working Conditions:

- Work is performed in agricultural and outdoor environments with exposure to dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- May require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Work hours may vary depending on operational needs, particularly during the summer harvest.
- May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, and after-hours loading.
