Mission Eye Clinic is looking for a versatile, growth-minded Dispensing Optometric Assistant to join our team.
This position will begin with a primary focus on optical dispensing. As you become confident in this area, your role will naturally evolve into a hybrid position combining your dispensing expertise with front-desk coordination. Then your daily focus will flexibly shift based on the clinic’s workflow and needs.
We will be providing in-house hands-on training for the right candidate.
Main Responsibilities include but are not limited to
- Optical Dispensing (Initial & Ongoing Focus)
· Style & Fit Eyewear: Assist clients with frame selection and recommend the best lens options tailored to their prescription, facial fit, and personal style.
· Technical Maintenance: Troubleshoot eyewear issues, perform precision frame adjustments, complete repairs, and handle lens neutralization and verification.
· Contact Lens Services: Manage contact lens inventory, place orders, and conduct patient insertion and removal (I&R;) training.
· Sales Excellence: Process transactions efficiently while maintaining highly accurate retail records.
- Reception & Clinic Coordination (Phased In Over Time)
· Patient Flow Management: Warmly welcome guests, check them in for appointments, manage scheduling, handle appointment confirmations, and conduct recalls.
· Front-Desk Communications:
Oversee clinic touchpoints by answering phone calls, responding to emails, filing, faxing, and arranging external specialist referrals.
· Clinical Billing: Handle invoicing, process customer payments, and manage direct billing to various insurance providers.
· Preliminary Testing: Prep patients for the Optometrist and conduct preliminary diagnostic tests, such as visual field testing and retinal imaging.
What We Are Looking For
· Previous experience in optical dispensing is highly preferred.
· Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to adapt as daily clinic priorities change.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deliver top-tier patient care.
· A desire to learn and master both the retail and medical administrative sides of an optometry clinic.
