About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a gentleman living with dementia and diabetes in London, Ontario. He lives with his partner who works full-time, and the family is looking for support to establish a healthy daily routine. Recently, he's been experiencing disrupted sleep patterns—waking during the night and then sleeping until mid-afternoon.
This cycle has made it challenging for him to maintain his medication schedule and daily self-care routines. While he's capable of showering and managing personal care independently, he needs gentle guidance and encouragement to get started each day.
Responsibilities:
- Arrive in the morning while the client is still sleeping and gently wake him at a consistent time
- Provide verbal prompting and encouragement to help him get up and start his day
- Support him in following his morning routine including showering (he can manage independently once prompted)
- Ensure he takes his medications on schedule, including diabetes medication and antidepressants
- Prepare or assist with breakfast
- Help establish and maintain a consistent daily routine to improve his sleep-wake cycle
- Provide companionship and engage him in conversation during visits
What We're Looking For:
- Experience supporting individuals with dementia and understanding of memory care approaches
- Knowledge of diabetes management and medication administration
- Patient,
warm personality with excellent communication skills
- Ability to provide gentle encouragement without being forceful
- Reliable and punctual—consistency is essential for routine-building
- Comfortable working independently and using good judgment
- Ability to access the home via lockbox in the morning
Schedule:
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings for 1.5-2 hours per visit (approximately 6 hours per week). The family is flexible on exact start times but needs morning coverage to establish the routine before the partner leaves for work.
Pay & Hours
CAD$27.00/hr
Hourly rate CAD$162.00/week

Additional Considerations
Client has diabetes requiring medication management. Client experiences sleep disturbances at night and sleeps late into the day. Caregiver will need to establish morning routine to help regulate sleep-wake cycle. Client is capable of showering and toileting independently but needs prompting and supervision. Client recently started antidepressants. Partner works full-time and leaves early in the morning.
