About the Role The Boardwalk Pharmacy in Waterloo is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to support our dispensary team. In this role, you will help keep the pharmacy running smoothly by assisting with prescription preparation, inventory, record keeping, and customer service, all under the supervision of our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Key Responsibilities

Dispensing Support

- Retrieve medications from stock based on prescription orders.

- Count and pour medications accurately under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist or Registered Pharmacy Technician.

- Affix labels to prescription vials/containers.

- Package medications for dispensing (e.g., blister packs, unit dose, or general packaging).

- Organize and maintain the prescription filling area, ensuring cleanliness and order.

- Return completed prescriptions to the appropriate storage area for pharmacist check.

Prescription Processing and Dispensing

- Enter prescription orders into the pharmacy software for verification by the pharmacist or technician.

Inventory Management

- Receive and unpack pharmaceutical supplies and over-the-counter products.

- Stock shelves and organize inventory in the dispensary.

- Monitor expiration dates and remove expired or near-expired medications.

- Assist with inventory counts and identify low stock levels.

- Ensure proper storage conditions for all medications.

General Support

- Answer and direct phone calls to the appropriate pharmacy staff.

- Organize and maintain patient files and prescription records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

- Process and file paperwork (e.g., invoices,



delivery slips).

- Assist with preparing orders for delivery or pick-up.

- Maintain the general cleanliness of the dispensary and pharmacy work areas.

- Perform other duties as assigned.

Customer Service Support

- Assist customers with locating over-the-counter products.

- Direct prescription-related questions to the Pharmacist or Pharmacy Technician.

- Support the front shop team during busy periods as needed.

Compliance

- Strictly adhere to all pharmacy policies, procedures, and relevant provincial regulations (e.g., Personal Health Information Protection Act – PHIPA).

- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient health information.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

- Robust organizational and time management skills.

- Basic computer proficiency.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

- Reliable, responsible, and a strong work ethic.

- Ability to follow instructions precisely and work well under supervision.

- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights (up to 20 lbs).

- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

- Previous experience in a retail, customer service, or administrative role is an asset.
