Job Summary

Proform Construction Products is currently seeking a Journeyperson Electrician with experience in a plant environment. This role is expected to perform skilled electrical work, maintenance, and repair of electrical and electronic equipment, heavy duty manufacturing equipment, and facilities of the manufacturing plant.

The position also requires robust mechanical aptitude and will also be regularly involved with, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting to diagnose and correct electrical problems and assist in mechanical repair of automated manufacturing equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, utilizing 480 VAC, VFD, and PLCs.

Job Duties

- Inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul electro-mechanical and electrical equipment using a variety of electrical test equipment, meters, and powered and non-powered tools.
- Schedule, conduct and document and execute the plant preventive maintenance program.
- Assist with mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electrical wiring according to Code and company electrical standards.
- Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems used in the facility, including its associated equipment, variable frequency drives (VFD), drives, and controls.
- Responsible for station lockout/tagout procedures as mandated by company policy.
- Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety and environment regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call to meet the facility’s need for any emergency repairs, as well as for routine preventive maintenance during off peak production periods.

- Strong understanding of applicable electrical and other maintenance related laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, shop drawings, electrical prints, wiring diagrams, and nameplates.
- Knowledge of single phase and three phase AC circuits.
- Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and/or a scissor lift while performing job duties.
- Ability to work with power tools, small motorized equipment, and other service vehicles.
- Work independently with little direction.
- Team player and highly self-motivated individual.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Theory of operation and use of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) units and other computer-based equipment.
- Install, program, and troubleshoot PLC based equipment.

Requirements

- Journeyperson Electrician
- Strong emphasis on safety
- Experience with pneumatics and hydraulic systems
- Experience with PLC’s
- Experience within a Manufacturing setting an asset
- The ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal​
- ​Ability to troubleshoot and correcting mechanical and electrical issues ​
- Very strong sense of urgency with proven record of following through to meet deadlines and commitments. ​
- Complete proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other common applications. ​
