Construction Estimator – Civil & Infrastructure Projects

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to support a growing construction team in Edmonton. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate cost estimates, evaluating project opportunities and supporting the tendering process for a variety of construction and infrastructure projects.

This role involves working closely with senior management, project managers and construction teams to assess project scopes, identify risks and develop competitive bids.

The ideal candidate will have estimating experience in heavy civil construction, underground utilities, earthworks, concrete, electrical infrastructure or related construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed construction cost estimates, including labour, materials, equipment, subcontractors and overhead costs.
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications and project scopes to develop accurate estimates.
- Complete quantity take-offs and assess construction methodologies, project requirements and associated costs.
- Review tender documents, evaluate project opportunities and identify potential risks.
- Coordinate subcontractor and supplier pricing to develop competitive and accurate bids.
- Work closely with senior management to develop bidding strategies and review project opportunities.
- Support the preparation and submission of tenders, proposals and construction bids.




- Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations teams to ensure a explicit understanding of project scope, budgets, timelines and risks.
- Review contractor pricing, change orders and project cost adjustments.
- Support continuous improvement of estimating processes, cost databases and estimating accuracy.
- Provide estimating leadership and guidance to other team members, where applicable.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience, preferably within heavy civil, infrastructure, industrial or utility construction.
- Strong experience preparing detailed construction estimates and completing quantity take-offs.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction specifications and tender documents.
- Understanding of construction methods, labour and equipment costs, subcontractor pricing and project risks.
- Experience preparing competitive tenders and construction bids.
- Strong communication, organizational and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience estimating earthworks, underground utilities, concrete, roadworks or electrical infrastructure projects.
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Experience coordinating estimating teams or supporting bidding strategies.
- Familiarity with construction estimating software and cost management systems.

Pay: $150,000.00-$200,000.00 per year
