About Solace Wave Therapy

At Solace Wave, we believe everyone deserves a space where they feel seen, heard and understood. We're a growing virtual practice offering individual, couples and teen therapy, rooted in culturally responsive care for Black, Caribbean and African communities. Our name says it all: we're here to help people find peace and solace.

Why this work matters to us

Black Canadians are more likely to rate their mental health as fair or poor than other Canadians (Statistics Canada, 2020). Many want a therapist who understands their culture and lived experience, yet Black clinicians are still rare in this field. There are so few that the Canadian Psychological Association doesn't track the number. We're working to change that, and if you're a Black clinician, we strongly encourage you to apply.

What you'll do

Provide virtual individual, couples and/or teen therapy on a schedule that works for you. We take care of everything else, from marketing, free consultations and intake to client matching, scheduling, booking and insurance billing, so you can focus on what you do best.

- We register you with insurers (TELUS Health, Sun Life, Green Shield, Medavie Blue Cross and more) and handle the claims
- Practice software, scheduling and admin all taken care of

What you'll need

- A master's degree in counselling psychology, psychotherapy, social work or a related field
- Full registration as an RP with CRPO (not Qualifying), a CCC with the CCPA, or an RSW with the OCSWSSW, so you can direct bill insurers
- Good standing with your regulatory body and your own professional liability insurance
- Proven experience providing culturally responsive care to Black, African and Caribbean clients, with a solid understanding of their cultural, immigrant, faith and family experiences
- A private, confidential space and reliable internet

Nice to have

- RP with CRPO
- Experience with couples or teens
