Position Overview

Reporting to the Associate Director, Sales the successfull candidate will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities while developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients. The role manages the full sales cycle, from initial inquiry through contract execution, to secure conventions, meetings, and events for the Centre.

The Sales

Manager plays an important role in promoting the Centre, ensuring client satisfaction, and supporting business development initiatives that strengthen the Centre’s presence in the market.

Primary Functions and Responsibilities

- Proactively identify, solicit, and secure new convention, meeting, and event business within the assigned portfolio
- Manage the full sales cycle from initial inquiry through proposal development, contract negotiation, and booking confirmation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with event planners, clients, and industry partners to generate repeat and referral business
- Conduct sales calls, client meetings, and site inspections to promote the Centre and secure new bookings
- Maintain accurate client accounts, sales activities, and booking information within VenueOps (venue management software)
- Represent the Centre at industry events, networking functions, and trade shows to support business development initiatives




- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure successful event planning and delivery while supporting departmental sales targets and revenue goals

Qualifications:

- Minimum 3 (three) years of sales experience, preferably within the convention centre, hospitality, tourism, or event industry
- Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, Tourism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated ability to develop current business opportunities, build client relationships, and negotiate effectively
- Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with event management systems is considered an asset
- Ability and willingness to travel within Canada and the United States to support sales initiatives and participate in industry events
