Shopping centres are active, community-focused spaces where safety and customer service go hand in hand. As a Temporary Security Guard at Concord Security, you will serve as a visible, approachable, and reassuring presence at a premier retail centre in Burnaby during one of its busiest seasons.
This role is essential for maintaining property safety, supporting retail tenants, and offering direct assistance to the public. Your main responsibilities include
- Assisting Visitors and Tenants: Warmly greet guests, offer directions, and answer routine questions about the facility.
- Conducting Regular Patrols: Perform foot patrols across the interior and exterior of the shopping centre to ensure a safe workplace.
- Upholding Safety Protocols:
Help visitors and staff adhere to site policies and safety procedures in a helpful, respectful manner.
- Writing Clear Reports: Complete detailed, objective incident reports and daily logs using standard written English.
- Handling Challenging Situations: Remain calm during unexpected incidents or emergencies, applying de-escalation techniques when required.
What You Bring
Must-Haves
- A valid British Columbia Security Employee License.
- At least 1 year of security experience (experience in a retail or commercial setting is strongly preferred).
- At least 6 months of customer service experience.
- Strong spoken and written English communication skills for reporting and public interaction.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shift patrols.
Nice-to-Haves
- Valid First Aid certification (OFA Level 1 or equivalent).
- Previous experience working in high-volume public environments.
Pay & Schedule
- Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
- Schedules Available: Flexible part-time and full-time shifts covering morning and afternoon hours.
