North Cowichan is recruiting paid-on-call firefighters for its Crofton station. Members are paid for practices, callouts and duty weekends, and must live in the community the station serves.
Pay: $18.54 per hour for months 1 to 6, then $22.37 per hour (January 2025 Level 1 rates)

Key requirements:
- At least 18 years old
- Resident of Crofton
- Current Class 5 non-restricted driver's licence and protected driving record
- Pass a medical assessment, criminal record check, vulnerable sector check and RCMP security clearance
- Pass an agility test, a written exam and an interview
- Attend all scheduled training
